Spring has finally rolled around and everything all of a sudden seems a little brighter. Bluer skies, warmer days and lighter evenings are all on their way and whilst that news will fill many with excitement for the nearby summer months, it can pose an extra challenge to those trying to give up smoking.
Having done so well all through the long, cold winter months people are all of a sudden called to socialise with non-smokers and smokers alike. Trips to the beach, weekends in the beer garden and even the odd spring barbecue are excellent springtime social events, but they are all situations that can tempt you to step away from the e cig and become a “social smoker” for the season. This kind of justification may seem like a good idea at the time, being able to join in with your smoker friends and enjoy a puff with your pint or wine, but it will only serve to undo all the hard work you’ve already done which will make it harder to quit again.
So how do you make the most of the mild spring weather and its associated mingling without falling off the wagon? Mixing it up and making your vaping more interesting is a good place to start. Whether you are an e cig newbie or a vaping veteran, you will probably already have a favourite or comfort flavour of e juice that you turn to and stick with. This is fine; after all, the best way to stick to something is to enjoy it. However, the flavours that got you through dull grey winter months (cappuccino, Irish coffee and other cosy flavours) might feel a little too familiar, causing you to seek out new taste sensations. If this is the case, it is best to go seasonal. As with anything else – fashion, travel and sales – your palette is seasonal; in its simplest form this means salads belong in spring and summer, stews in autumn and winter. This seasonal split depends in part on your preferences, whether you fancy hot stodgy food on a hot sunny day for example, as well as what foods are in season.
Now, whilst you can get any e liquid flavour you want all year round, it is a good idea to keep your choices season appropriate. This means figuring out what typically spring flavours are available in e juice form. To help you out with this, we have come up with a list of five spring flavours you can vape on. See below for more.
Rhubarb is a versatile vegetable and a favourite in deserts. It comes into its own throughout April and peaks in May and June.
Suggested e liquid: Rhubarb and Custard
Usually associated with Easter lunch and drizzled on a lamb dinner, mint is one of the fresh tastes and fragrances of spring; it can be enjoyed as a condiment to savoury foods or as a sweet flavouring…like mint chocolate chip ice cream at the beach!
Suggested e liquid: Double Mint or Mint Chocolate
Is there is anything more quintessentially British and spring like than strawberry? Strawberries can be made into jam, milkshakes, ice cream and enjoyed with cream or as they come. One of the sweetest spring tastes!
Suggested e liquid: Strawberry
Lemon is often seen as a summertime flavour but the fruit actually comes into season in March. Fresh, crisp and tasty on food or in drinks, lemon is a great flavour to start the warmer weather with.
Suggested e liquid: Lemon
March through July is peak pineapple season, which means it is a bonafide (and tasty) spring fruit.
Suggested e liquid: Juicy Pineapple
Of course, these are just five of the wide selection of e juice flavours available. That means you have plenty more to choose from when it comes to finding a fresh new flavour – you could even skip a season and opt for a fresh summer flavour instead. Whatever e liquid you decide on, try and use this new season as an excuse to mix things up and try something new.by
