The basics of ecig charging

If you keep tabs on news surrounding electronic cigarettes as we do, then it is likely that you will have come across a number of media stories regarding “exploding” ecigs; the majority of these reports revolve around ecigs being left unattended or being charged in an unsuitable way.

Though certainly alarming, these kinds of accidents are extremely rare. However, we at Cloudstix decided to compile a guide to ecig safety, mainly the dos and don’ts when it comes to charging them!

DO NOT leave your ecig unattended

Here at Cloudstix we publish all of our electronic cigarette starter kit manuals online, not only to save paper, but to make sure that the safety advice is easily available; and for good reason. As a rule of thumb, you should never leave your ecig unattended when it’s charging because though its rare, your battery can overheat and if you aren’t there to unplug your ecig, it can cause damage to itself or any nearby property.

If you notice your battery getting warm then turn it off, unplug it from the wall and leave it for a while to cool down.

If possible, DO NOT charge your ecig overnight

Further to what we have already said above, you should avoid leaving your ecig to charge at night. Though it may seem convenient, your ecig will not need 8 to 10 hours to charge, which increases the risk of the device overheating.

Only use the charger supplied with your electronic cigarette starter kit

We cannot stress this point enough; only use the official charger that came with your ecig to charge the device. It was made specifically for it, which means there will be no excess voltage and the battery can be charged at a safe rate.

However, that being said there is some cross compatibility between chargers, but you should always check thoroughly before using another model; there should be a label on the charger stating its optimum voltage.

Charge your ecig in a sensible place

By this we mean away from any flammable materials and away from heat sources and excessive sunlight. Also, be sure to charge your ecig out of reach of pets and children as they may inadvertently damage the device or harm themselves.

Though this is only a basic guide when it comes to charging your ecig, as mentioned, Cloudstix publish all instructional material for our various electronic cigarette starter kits on our website. However, if you have any specific questions relating to any of our products then do not hesitate to get in touch via the contacts listed online. We are all vaping fanatics here and will gladly help you in any way that we can!
