Being a smoker, you are not only exposed to the uncountable health risks, you also have to deal with the immensely stressful situations that smoking throws at you. Yes, we mean pulling out the filter when you take a drag, squashing your cigarette because it’s been in your back pocket and the dreaded ‘smoke-in-eye’. So, if you’re not convinced yet, let’s take a look at a few of the other stresses that come with smoking.
Ripping the Rizla
If you’re a roller, you’ll know this one all too well; when you pull a bit too hard or get the paper a little too damp and it inevitably rips. Not only does this mean you’ve wasted another rizla just to get your nicotine fix, it also sends stress levels sky-high over the sake of a measly cigarette. Oh the little stresses of life!
Thinking you’ve burnt your eyebrow off
Forgetting to turn your lighter down can be a big mistake and thankfully I’ve only ever experienced thinking I’ve burnt my eyebrow off but it’s another added stress all the same, not to mention falling under the illusion that you can literally smell burnt eyebrow. But perhaps the most annoying thing about this is that you don’t even have to have the lighter on a high setting; draw your head in a little to close and just like that, you’ve lost a little bit of your eyebrow. Word of advice? Be careful when using a lighter.
Dropping your cigarette down a crack in the flooring
So, you’ve made it past the ‘ripping the rizla’ stage and you’ve thankfully kept both of your eyebrows but there is nothing more infuriating than dropping your perfectly rolled cigarette down a crack in the flooring. Possibly the most annoying thing I find is that any other time, I have appalling aim but no, not in these situations; these situations seem to love me.
This situation is a bit hit and miss; you can be outside enjoying a nice cigarette and everything will be lovely and the BAM, a bad case of dry mouth hits and just won’t go away even after chugging a litre of water. There is probably an explanation behind this sensation but it’s a little stress nonetheless.
Last but certainly not least we have a case of the smoky fingers. Now, a lot of smokers don’t like the smell of smoke and granted it’s not the nicest scent in the world, however, nothing is worse than smoky fingers especially if you have a very itchy nose. And, to make it worse, it’s not just fingers that smoke clings to! If you have long hair or you have clothing that smoke just seems to stick to like glue then you’re in for a particularly smelly night as it just doesn’t seem to go away.
