Hints and Tips for new vapers at Cloudstix

So, you’ve switched to vaping? In that case, you’ve come to the right place. Vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking. Because of this, e-cigarette suppliers – such as ourselves at Cloudstix – are constantly encountering first-time vapers, who want information about how to use their new e-cigs.

Most people will assume that vaping is pretty much the same as smoking –  but it isn’t. Vaping involves the use of technology and offers a range of options in terms of vape liquids, e-cig starter kits and e-cig mods. Here we have compiled a number of hints and tips to get the new vaper started.

Understand the parts

First and foremost, you need to know what the different components of an e-cig are:

  • E-cig juice – this is poured into the e-cig and used to create the vapour. It is available in a variety of different flavours and strengths.
  • Clearomizer or tank – contains the e-liquid within the e-cig
  • Atomizer – heats up the e-liquid and creates the vapour that you inhale
  • E-cig mouthpiece or drip tip – the section you put to your mouth when inhaling the vapour
  • Rechargeable e-cig battery – used to power the e-cig. Some batteries will be built-in.
  • E-cig mod – a powered box that is considered an ‘upgrade’, often used by more experienced vapers to control their vaping preferences

E-cig starter kits

When you’re new to vaping, the best bet is to buy a starter kit from a reliable e-cigarette supplier, such as ourselves. Aspire starter kits, in particular, provide all the essentials that you will need to begin vaping with ease. Try to avoid advanced vaping kits – these throw in different pieces of additional technology that you don’t need as a beginner – and opt for something simple instead.

Starter kits – such as the Orca Solo Kit and our Aspire starter kits – equip you with all the important items needed to hit the ground running. You even get a user guide to help you out.

Know your limits with e-cig juice

Vaping is very different from smoking – you have a lot of control over the strength of what you inhale.

As a beginner, we recommend that you choose an e-liquid that is low in strength. Some people try to dive right in with a high strength liquid, or even a CBD oil. But this isn’t the best idea. You should start at the bottom with something low-strength and, if you find you’re unsatisfied with the effect, gradually start to work your way up to something stronger.

Keep charging

People lead busy lives and, if you’re out of the house for long periods of time, you want to be sure your e-cig will last until you get home. E-cig hardware is designed to work for many hours. But, just to be on the safe side, it’s worth making sure it is fully charged before you head out. A handy tip is to keep your charger with you. That way, you never have to worry about running out of power.

As a word of caution, try to avoid charging your e-cig overnight (or when nobody is around) – as this can pose a serious fire hazard.

Heat risks

On hot days during the summer, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on your e-cig hardware. Leaving it in areas that can heat up excessively – such as a conservatory or car – can damage the battery and potentially cause a fire. As a general rule-of-thumb, you should try to keep your e-cig with you at all times. In that way, you can deal with any malfunctions quickly and safely.

Variety of flavours

With so many available to enjoy, most vapers choose to buy a variety of different flavours. Doing so will allow you to swap and change as you please. You can be vaping the flavour of cherry one minute and change to apple the next. The choice is yours and you’re free to switch as many times as you like.

Buying a number of different e-liquids also means you will have spares – and if one flavour runs out or you lose interest in a particular taste, you can quickly and easily change to a new one.

Getting used to the vapour

Vapour from an e-cig is very different from regular cigarette smoke. This can make it hard to get used to and cause you to cough when you inhale. But, don’t worry – this will pass with time. The more you vape, the more your lungs will get used to the vapour and the better the experience will become. In the meantime, try to drink cold water as much as possible, as this will help with the coughing.
